#1 Full tank of Stabilized Gas

Get a fresh can of gas, add an appropriate amount of fuel stabilizer, and fill the gas tank all the way to the top. This will prevent water from condensing inside the gas tank, and the fuel stabilizer will prevent the gas from degrading. Believe it or not, the most volatile combustible parts of gas will evaporate away in as little as 30 days, which is a common cause of your equipment not wanting to start in the spring!

#2 Take care of any scheduled maintenance
Check your equipment manual to see what the manufacture recommended maintenance is. Typically on most equipment, it's recommended to change the oil once or twice a season, clean the air filter, inspect the fuel filter, and possibly replace spark plugs.

#3 Store in a covered place
Do you want to make sure you store your equipment out of the elements to prevent any issues with rust. A tarp is OK, but a covered outbuilding or garage is best.

Bonus tip:
If you have battery-powered equipment, make sure you store the batteries in a climate-controlled space to prevent them from degrading prematurely!
